Meet Rhett

Rhett Das, Managing Director

"We like to see ourselves as the eyes and ears for danger – we see it before others do. For us, it’s hiding in plain sight."

My role is like being an interpreter.

I help AFSL owners who are struggling to understand and apply legislation, because they can’t figure out how to bridge the gap between regulator expectations and the reality of giving advice.

My role is to provide confidence that if the regulator knocks on the door, risk has been mitigated as much as possible. I like to say that we see ourselves as the eyes and ears for danger – we see it before others do. For us, it’s hiding in plain sight.

Rhett’s diverse career spans the legal and financial services industries. He has worked as:

  • A solicitor in private practice
  • An investigator for the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC)
  • A panel case manager for the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS)
  • The Head of Compliance for an ASX listed company that holds two AFS licences
  • Rhett has acted as an independent expert in enforceable undertakings

Rhett started Integrity Compliance and PDLegal to be able to provide support to AFS Licensees of all shapes and sizes. He felt there was a need to provide a service that understands and caters for the needs of financial advice businesses. He also recently passed the FASEA exam.

Rhett has a unique skill set and a deep understanding of the balance needed to achieve both regulatory and commercial outcomes. He also has passion and energy for our industry and better advice solutions, with 100% commitment to delivering the best solutions.

A bit of balance

Balance in life can help you be better at your work. This gives me a great excuse to indulge in:

  • Riding and caring for our horses - we have Friesians (very large horses), who are calm and just like really big dogs
  • My love for motorcycles, but there is only one brand - Ducati
  • Having a healthy mind and body - I make sure I fit in some pilates, yoga and HIIT each week

  • My godfather was the only person to land a Mirage A3-16 at Tullamarine on its fuel tanks and survive

Having known Rhett and his team for many years, when we decided to get our own AFSL we immediately engaged him for both establishing our AFSL and also the ongoing compliance work.
